Man leads police on 40-minute chase from Inglewood to Willowbrook

LOS ANGELES - An alleged drunken driver was arrested today after leading officers on a 40-minute pursuit that began in Inglewood and ended in Willowbrook.

Officers started chasing the 57-year-old man near the intersection of South Van Ness Avenue and West Manchester Boulevard in Inglewood about 4 a.m., Los Angeles police Sgt. Jim Thompson of the Southeast Station said. The pursuit ended about 4:40 a.m. at the Century (105) Freeway and South Wilmington Avenue in Willowbrook.

The unidentified man said he was scared and did not want to be pulled over, Thompson said. He was allegedly under influence of narcotics.
