Dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy and actress Kirstie Alley were playing coy about their supposed romance at a dance showcase Sunday night. Are they or aren't they?
"Dancing with the Stars" is notorious for sparking romance rumors amongst its vast pool of scantily-clad celebrities and pro dancers, but no pair has attracted more speculation than this season's runners-up Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
The dance partners, who frequently cuddled and kissed one another on the cheek throughout the season, were all smiles at the Dance With Me Studios "All the Right Moves!" summer showcase Sunday night.
"What is that saying - you don't deny and you don't confirm?" a toned Alley, 60, teased at the event when asked about her close relationship with Maks.
Chmerkovskiy took a more direct approach in his answers.
"We are!" he joked to reporters on the red carpet. "We're naming our kids and stuff."
The chemistry between the actress and the dancing pro, 31, is no secret to their loved ones either.
"Ninety-nine percent of the people are here to see him and Kirstie perform, and just by him being here, it's already a job well done," Chmerkovskiy's younger brother, and fellow pro ballroom dancer, Valentin said. "Just in terms of performance, he can't go wrong and he can't go wrong because his partner is Kirstie."
The younger Chmerkovskiy performed several numbers throughout the night to a sold-out crowd that included "DWTS" contestant Petra Nemcova, alongside fellow ballroom world champion Daria Chesnokova and "Dancing with the Stars" troupe members Nicole and Teddy Volynets.
It was later in the night, when Alley and Chmerkovskiy took to the stage, however, that the crowd really went wild.
The pair did an energetic Cha-Cha-Cha to Cee Lo's "Forget You," with Alley showing off her fit figure in a skintight black leotard, and ending with the actress laughing at Maks that it would have been even better "if only you had come earlier and rehearsed with me!"
Chmerkovskiy, on his part, added further fuel to the rumor flames by extending a heartfelt thank-you to Alley after he introduced his family to the audience.
"Once in a while someone comes along in your life who changes how you see it," Chmerkovskiy said. "And for me, that's Kirstie Alley.
"You're the best thing that's happened to me in a very long time," he continued, giving her a big hug.
"And this is the best thing that's happened to me on Extra!" co-host of the night Tony Dovolani interjected, waving to the media.
