Blame it on the Tonys.

That's what Bret Michaels is saying in a lawsuit filed Friday in Los Angeles by the reality star, blaming the 2009 Tony Awards show organizers for an accident that he says led to the brain hemorrhage that almost killed him, TMZ.com reported.

The Poison singer had his head bashed by a piece of the set following a performance with his band on Broadway's biggest night, which sent him to the hospital with a broken nose and lacerated lip.

But those were the least of Michaels' medical problems as months later the VH1 fixture developed a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage followed by a warning stroke, which left him fighting for his life.

"Through his sheer will to live, to see his children grow up, Michaels was able to survive this trauma," the lawsuit states.

Michaels, 48, claims in the lawsuit that the injuries he suffered that night directly led to his hospitalization in April 2010 and that producers of the show failed to tell the eye-liner loving rocker how to exit the stage safely.

The suit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, asserts "One of the most common causes of [subarachnoid brain] hemorrhage is head trauma - exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards."

The complaint was filed against Tony Award Productions, CBS and others. The "Rock of Love" star is seeking unspecified damages.
